InteRussia Fellowship Handbook
We congratulate you once again on winning the competition for the InteRussia Fellowship. We hope that this time will be interesting and fruitful!
24/7
Travel
Air tickets are being sent to participants via messengers, so please make sure to check them regularly. Upon arrival, please stay in touch so you can contact the person meeting you in case you have any difficulties. The main communication channel is Telegram. Please note it requires a VPN to function properly in Russia, so we kindly ask you to install one in advance.

We also recommend that you keep both electronic and printed copies of your tickets and travel insurance, as access to digital versions may be limited (e.g., due to low battery or unstable internet connection).

Finally, please keep all your boarding passes and hand them over to the organizers upon arrival, as they are required for financial reporting.
Baggage allowances
One piece of luggage provided to the participants for international flights is 20−23 kg. Please note that exact baggage allowances may vary depending on the airline and are specified in your ticket. If your journey includes transit flights, be sure to check the baggage rules for each segment.

Any oversized or overweight luggage will be at the participant’s own expense.
Visa
You will need either a humanitarian or a student visa, depending on your specific program. The appropriate visa type will be confirmed by the organizers, so please follow the instructions provided by your InteRussia coordinator.

When passing through border control, please indicate that the purpose of your visit is scientific (or educational for programs hosted by MGIMO University or UNECON).

Visa costs are covered by participants.
Insurance
Please make sure to bring valid travel medical insurance for the entire duration of your stay in Russia (at your own expense). Kindly ensure that your policy explicitly covers Russia.

If you require any specific medications, we strongly recommend bringing them with you, as availability may be limited.
Lodging & Meals
During your fellowship in Russia, you will be accommodated in:
Various facilities are conveniently located nearby, including ATMs, pharmacies, mobile service providers, and cafés.

Please note that accommodation is provided on a shared (double occupancy) basis. Meals not included in the program are to be covered by participants.

Please also be aware that Russia uses European-style plugs (two round pins). We recommend bringing a suitable plug adapter with you before your trip.
Contact
SIM cards are provided by the organizers on the first day of the fellowship. Each SIM card comes with a pre-configured plan that includes 50 GB of mobile internet.

Please note that these SIM cards support internet access only and do not include incoming or outgoing calls.
Scholarship
As part of the program, participants receive a scholarship of 30,000 rubles (45,000 rubles for programs lasting 6 weeks). This amount is intended to partially cover personal expenses that are not covered by the organizers.

Please note that the scholarship cannot be paid in advance. A contract will be signed with each participant individually upon arrival. For this, you will need to open an account with a Russian bank. The process is simple and requires only your passport and a phone number. The organizers will assist all participants with opening a bank account on the first day of the program.

Once your account is set up, its details will be included in the contract, after which it can be signed. Please keep in mind that the transfer of funds may take several days, so we recommend bringing enough money in cash to cover your expenses during the first days of your stay in Russia.

Please also note that Visa and Mastercard cards do not work in the Russian Federation. We therefore recommend bringing cash with you, preferably in US dollars, and exchanging it upon arrival. The organizers will assist you with currency exchange if needed.

According to customs regulations, the amount of cash brought into Russia by air must not exceed $ 10,000 without declaration.
Program
The fellowship program includes lectures, workshops, visits to leading government institutions, public organizations, and partner venues, etc.

A tentative schedule will be shared with you in advance. Please note that some sessions may be subject to change — any updates will be communicated to you promptly.
