On August 29, participants of the InteRussia Theatre Arts Fellowship paid a creative visit to the M. Gorky Moscow Academic Art Theatre. The event became an important part of the professional and cultural programme organised for young foreign actors currently training in Russia.
During the visit, the fellows met with the Artistic Director of the M. Gorky Moscow Academic Art Theatre, People’s Artist of Russia Sergei Bezrukov. He introduced the participants to the foundations of the Stanislavsky system — one of the most influential methods of actor training in the world. The meeting provided the young artists with a rare opportunity to learn directly from a leading Russian theatre practitioner and to experience the living tradition of the Moscow Academic Art Theatre.
Following the master class, the participants took a guided tour of the spaces of the Gubernskaya Stage of the M. Gorky Moscow Academic Art Theatre. They explored the venue’s facilities and learned about its role in the theatre’s current artistic life. The evening concluded with a visit to the premiere performance of The Marriage of Figaro, giving the international guests the chance to experience a high-level professional production on one of Moscow’s prominent stages.
The organisers note that such meetings play a significant role in strengthening cultural ties and professional exchange. The visit offered the foreign actors valuable practical insights and a deeper understanding of the Russian theatre tradition.
The InteRussia Fellowship in Theatre Arts is implemented by Mezhdunarodniki Autonomous Non-Profit Organisation in cooperation with the Gorchakov Fund, GITIS and TV BRICS International Media Network. The programme is implemented as part of Rossotrudnichestvo’s flagship New Generation initiative with grant support from the Presidential Grants Foundation.
