African Journalism Fellows Explore Russia's Leading Media and Expert Institutions

As part of the InteRussia Fellowship, journalism fellows from African countries continue to deepen their understanding of Russia's media landscape through visits to leading media organizations and expert institutions. The programme combines academic discussions with practical insights, giving participants the opportunity to engage directly with professionals and gain experience of how Russian institutions operate.

One of the fellowship's busiest days began with a visit to the Association of Economic Cooperation with African states. During the meeting, the fellows discussed the current state and future prospects of Russia-Africa cooperation, with particular attention to energy security, sustainable development, and the evolving partnership between the two regions.

The programme continued with a visit to the RT headquarters, where the participants gained a behind-the-scenes look at one of the largest international media organizations. During the visit, the fellows learned about the broadcaster's editorial structure, multilingual news production, and the technologies used to deliver news content to audiences around the world.

The participants also toured RT's television studios and production facilities, observing different stages of the broadcasting process. Meetings with journalists, editors, and media professionals gave the fellows an opportunity to discuss newsroom workflows, international reporting and digital journalism.

Through meetings with leading organizations, expert discussions, and immersive professional experiences, the InteRussia Fellowship continues to provide young journalists with valuable knowledge, practical skills, and opportunities for international collaboration.

The programme is implemented by Mezhdunarodniki Autonomous Non-Profit Organisation together with the Gorchakov Fund and the International Information Agency and Radio Sputnik as part of the SputnikPro programme. The fellowship is held within Rossotrudnichestvo's flagship New Generation programme with grant support from the Presidential Grants Foundation.
