MGIMO University Welcomes New International Relations Fellows
On March 18, the MGIMO Institute for International Studies hosted the official opening of the InteRussia fellowship for professionals in International Relations and Political Science.
The participants were welcomed by:
Dr. Andrey Baykov, Vice-Rector for Science and Research at MGIMO University;
Dr. Maxim Suchkov, Director of the MGIMO Institute for International Studies;
Lyana Dymova, Academic Programs Coordinator at the Gorchakov Fund.
In his welcoming remarks, Dr. Andrey Baykov highlighted the growing significance of the InteRussia program and encouraged young IR specialists to push the boundaries of their research and make the most of the opportunities the fellowship offers.
Dr. Maxim Suchkov introduced the Institute’s key research areas and spoke about the various ways fellows can get involved in its academic and analytical work.
"What makes this program truly valuable is the diversity of voices it brings together. It is in these conversations — sometimes challenging, sometimes unexpected — that a deeper and more nuanced understanding of global processes begins to take shape," — shared Dr. Maxim Suchkov.
Lyana Dymova thanked the partners for their long-standing cooperation and emphasized that building direct dialogue between professionals from different countries is especially important today.
"We are witnessing a profound transformation of the international system, where public diplomacy and professional engagement are becoming ever more significant. Through the InteRussia fellowship, a new community of professionals is being formed — one that not only allows for exchanges of knowledge and ideas, but also serves as an important channel of cooperation between countries," — noted Lyana Dymova.
The tenth cohort of the InteRussia fellowship in International Relations is represented by professionals from Brazil, France, Georgia, India, Indonesia, Iran, Pakistan, South Africa, and Zambia. Over the course of the six-week program, they will develop and defend individual research projects under the guidance of MGIMO’s leading scholars.
The InteRussia fellowship in international relations is implemented by the Mezhdunarodniki Autonomous Non-Profit Organisation in cooperation with the Gorchakov Fund and MGIMO Institute for International Studies with grant support from the Presidential Grants Foundation.
