The InteRussia fellowship in Energy took place from March 30 to April 21, 2026 in Kazan, bringing together energy specialists from the Middle East and Africa.

What did the participants accomplish during the program?

At the Energoprom forum, participants discussed the sustainability of energy infrastructure, technological modernization, and prospects for energy system development. Participation in the forum provided an opportunity to learn about the decision-making process and exchange experiences with leading experts.

At Innopolis University and the special economic zone, participants studied successful examples of integrating digital technologies, education, and business into a unified innovation system that facilitates the development and implementation of advanced energy solutions.

The fellowship program also included visits to prominent organizations in the energy industry, including Tatenergosbyt, the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Republic of Tatarstan, the Iskra-Volga Technology Park, and a meeting with representatives of the State Tariff Committee of the Republic of Tatarstan. This allowed the participants to gain a comprehensive understanding of the energy sector at the regional level.

During an informal meeting with international students from Kazan State Power Engineering University (KSPEU), they shared their academic and professional trajectories and discussed the specifics of national energy systems and the challenges facing different countries.

The cultural program complemented the academic part of the fellowship, introducing the participants to the historical and cultural heritage of the region: they visited the island town of Sviyazhsk and learned more about Tatarstan's traditions, which contributed to strengthening intercultural dialogue.

The InteRussia Fellowship in Energy is implemented by Mezhdunarodniki Autonomous Non-Profit Organisation in cooperation with the Gorchakov Fund, St. Petersburg State University of Economics (UNECON), Russia-ASEAN Business Council, the TV BRICS International Network, the Global Energy Association and the Russian Energy Agency (REA) of the Ministry of Energy of the Russian Federation, with support from the Presidential Grants Foundation.
