During their stay in Moscow, participants of the InteRussia international energy fellowship programme from Latin America visited two leading organisations in Russia’s energy sector — the Global Energy Association and the Russian Energy Agency (REA) of the Ministry of Energy of the Russian Federation.
The visits formed part of the fellows’ professional programme and complemented the main activities of the fellowship in St. Petersburg. The meetings provided participants with an opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of Russia’s energy sector, its institutional framework, and the country’s approach to international energy cooperation.
Global Energy Association
At the Global Energy Association, the fellows were introduced to the organisation’s structure, key areas of activity and its role in fostering international dialogue and cooperation in the energy sector. The participants learned about the Association’s work on promoting expert cooperation and addressing major challenges facing the global energy industry.
Particular attention was paid to current trends shaping the international energy landscape, including energy security, technological development and the transition towards sustainable energy systems. The meeting also provided an opportunity for participants to exchange views on the challenges and opportunities facing different regions and to discuss Russia’s role in international energy cooperation.
Russian Energy Agency
The programme continued with a visit to the Russian Energy Agency (REA) of the Ministry of Energy of the Russian Federation. The fellows learned about the agency’s structure, main areas of responsibility and its role in supporting the development of Russia’s fuel and energy complex.
During the meeting, participants were introduced to the REA’s analytical and expert activities, as well as its cooperation with government institutions and representatives of the energy industry. The discussion covered key priorities for the development of the Russian energy sector, including energy efficiency, technological development and the long-term development of energy markets.
The Moscow programme complemented the fellows’ academic and professional activities in St. Petersburg, providing them with a broader perspective on Russia’s energy sector. The visits allowed participants to learn about the work of key energy institutions and to connect their professional expertise with the Russian experience in energy policy, industry development and international cooperation.
The InteRussia international energy fellowship programme is implemented at the premises of UNECON in cooperation with the Mezhdunarodniki Autonomous Non-Profit Organisation, the Gorchakov Fund, and the TV BRICS international media network, supported by the Global Energy Association, the Russian Energy Agency (REA) of the Ministry of Energy of the Russian Federation, the National Committee for Economic Cooperation with Latin American Countries, and the Presidential Grants Fund.
