As part of their program, the InteRussia fellows specializing in the energy sector visited the Gladkoe fuel terminal, a facility operated by Gazpromneft-Terminal and recognized as one of Russia's most prominent energy hubs. The visit provided a comprehensive overview of the terminal's advanced operational processes and its role in the national energy infrastructure.
The Gladkoe terminal, commissioned in 2019, was constructed with the use of all latest technologies. It serves as a model for the future modernization of the company's entire terminal network.
The group observed the terminal's key operational stages. This included a visit to the railway unloading trestle where tank cars are received, the automated truck loading station, and a tour of a high-tech laboratory responsible for rigorous fuel quality control. A significant point of interest was the digital monitoring systems that track fuel volumes and parameters in real time. Gladkoe is unique in Russia as the only fuel terminal equipped with measurement units that provide fully automated control of volume and parameters during both the receipt from rail tank cars and the dispatch to road transport.
This field experience significantly enhanced the fellows' understanding of the scale and technological sophistication of Russia's energy logistics. It also served as a valuable platform for discussions on innovation, environmental stewardship, and the potential for international cooperation in shaping the future of the global energy sector.
The InteRussia fellowship programme in Energy is implemented by ANO “Mezhdunarodniki” in collaboration with the Gorchakov Fund, St. Petersburg State University of Economics, the TV BRICS International Media Network, the Global Energy Association, the National Committee for Promoting Economic Cooperation with Latin American Countries, the Russian Energy Agency of the Russian Ministry of Energy, and Rossotrudnichestvo "New Generation" program, with grant support from the Presidential Grants Foundation.
