On August 23, the closing ceremony of the InteRussia fellowship programme in energy "The Changing Energy Landscape" for specialists from Latin America and the Caribbean was held at Saint Petersburg State University of Economics (UNECON). Maxim Legashov, Vice-Rector for Economics and Finance at UNECON , and Sergey Orlov, Deputy Executive Director of the Gorchakov Fund for Public Diplomacy Support, addressed the participants.
Maxim Legashov noted: "All project partners - the university, the Gorchakov Fund, TV BRICS, the Global Energy Association, NC SESLA, and the Russian Energy Agency of the Ministry of Energy of Russia - have done their utmost to develop dialogue in the energy sector between our country and Latin American countries. We gathered the best experts from universities and companies, organized meetings and visits, and tried to familiarize foreign specialists with Russia's best practices while giving them the opportunity to present their own experiences."
In turn, Sergey Orlov emphasized: "All project partners - the university, the Gorchakov Fund, TV BRICS, the Global Energy Association, NC SESLA, and the Russian Energy Agency of the Ministry of Energy of Russia - have done their utmost to develop dialogue in the energy sector between our country and Latin American countries. From July 29 to August 26, interns from Argentina, Brazil, Costa Rica, Mexico, El Salvador, and Chile discussed issues of international energy security, current and long-term trends in global energy markets, the Russian oil and gas sector in an international context, Russia's low-carbon economy strategy, and prospects for developing relations between Russia and Latin American countries in the energy sector.
An important part of the program was visits to energy infrastructure facilities. In Moscow, visits were made to the Ministry of Energy of Russia, the Main Dispatch Center of JSC "SO UES" (System Operator of the Unified Energy System), and the Transport Department of the Moscow Government. In Saint Petersburg, the group visited the Committee for External Relations of Saint Petersburg, LLC "KINEF", the "Intelligent Digital Networks Laboratory" (PJSC "Rosseti"), and the "Gladkoye" Fuel Terminal of Gazprom Neft. Additionally, interns were offered virtual tours of the floating nuclear power plant and the Leningrad Nuclear Power Plant.
As a result of the training, participants developed projects presenting the energy landscape of Latin American and Caribbean countries.
The InteRussia Energy Program is implemented by ANO "Mezhdunarodniki" in collaboration with the Gorchakov Fund, the St. Petersburg State University of Economics, the International Network TV BRICS, the Global Energy Association, the National Committee for Promoting Economic Cooperation with Latin American Countries (NC PECLA), and the Russian Energy Agency (REA) of the Ministry of Energy of the Russian Federation, with grant support from the Presidential Grants Fund.
