On 2 June, Novosibirsk State University (NSU) officially opened the third InteRussia Fellowship programme for young international professionals in the fields of «Artificial Intelligence in Medicine» and «Smart City». The programme brought together participants from Ghana, Haiti, India, Mexico, Nepal, Nigeria, Peru, Serbia, South Africa, Sudan and Turkmenistan.
The opening ceremony featured welcoming remarks by:
— Mikhail Fedoruk, Rector of Novosibirsk State University;
— Artem Parenkov, Coordinator at the Gorchakov Fund;
— Liana Saakyants, Programme Manager.
Welcoming the participants, NSU Rector Mikhail Fedoruk highlighted the unique academic and scientific environment of Novosibirsk Akademgorodok and expressed hope that the fellowship would provide both professional and personal enrichment.
«Akademgorodok is a unique place in Russia, where a world-class university is located at the heart of a major scientific centre. I sincerely hope that during your internship you will not only gain valuable knowledge in information technology, and above all in artificial intelligence, but also become acquainted with Akademgorodok, its research institutes, the university and, of course, one another».
Artem Parenkov, Coordinator at the Gorchakov Fund, noted that the programme is designed not only to enhance professional competencies but also to foster lasting international connections.
«The InteRussia programme is certainly aimed at developing and strengthening professional skills. However, it is about much more than education alone. It is also about building connections between people. I hope that during these weeks you will become not only colleagues, but also good friends. The relationships you build here may stay with you for a lifetime and contribute to future professional achievements and success».
Programme Manager Liana Saakyants welcomed the fellows:
«We are delighted to welcome all of you to Russia. These four weeks promise to be truly unforgettable. We hope that you will gain invaluable experience, share knowledge with your colleagues and look back on this time with warmth and appreciation.
We would also like to thank our partners and long-standing friends for their continued support and assistance in implementing this programme. Cherish every moment — time will pass faster than you think».
Over the next four weeks, participants will engage in lectures, workshops and practical activities focused on artificial intelligence technologies in healthcare and smart city development. The programme will provide an opportunity to deepen professional expertise, exchange international experience and establish long-term academic and professional partnerships.
The InteRussia Fellowship in Engineering is implemented by Mezhdunarodniki Autonomous Non-Profit Organisation in cooperation the Gorchakov Fund, Novosibirsk State University, the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, and Akadempark within the framework of the New Generation program of Rossotrudnichestvo and with the support from the Presidential Grants Foundation.
