On September 9, participants of the InteRussia fellowship program specializing in STEM visited the Moscow headquarters of VK, a leading Russian tech company and digital services provider. The visit offered an in-depth look at the structure and operational dynamics of one of Russia's most significant digital ecosystems.

The company VK, originally launched in 2006 as the social network VKontakte, has since evolved into a multifaceted holding. Today, VK serves as the core of a vast digital ecosystem that integrates more than 200 products and services. Its extensive portfolio encompasses social networking and communication platforms, music and video platforms, e-learning solutions, cloud infrastructure, as well as e-commerce and business services.

The VK ecosystem commands a monthly audience of over 100 million users across Russia and the CIS countries. For this vast user base, VK's services have become integral to daily life, facilitating communication, work, education, entertainment, and commerce.

During the visit, the fellows gained firsthand insight into the company's corporate environment and technological infrastructure. They toured the modern office space, designed with open-plan layouts to foster collaboration and creativity. The program also featured a session that delved into the technical foundations of the VK ecosystem. This session provided valuable detail on the seamless integration of its diverse platforms, the architecture behind its data flow management, and the methodologies employed to craft a cohesive and intuitive user experience across all services.

The InteRussia fellowship program for non-Russian specialists in STEM is implemented by the Mezhdunarodniki Autonomous Non-Profit Organisation in cooperation with the Gorchakov Fund, the Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology, and the Directorate of the World Youth Festival with support from ABS Electro Charity Foundation and the Presidential Grants Foundation.
