A new session of the InteRussia Internship: the deadline for applications has been extended to February 26

The International Relations Internship Program is organized by the MGIMO University in partnership with the Gorchakov Fund and Rossotrudnichestvo .

InteRussia provides an opportunity for foreign experts in the fields of history and theory of international relations, political science and regional studies to learn about the Russian scientific and expert agenda, visit public bodies, participate in expert sessions hosted by universities, think tanks and non-governmental organisations. The unique feature of the program is that the selected participants will get the opportunity to work under the academic guidance of leading MGIMO scholars.

InteRussia’s mission is to expand and deepen scientific, social and cultural ties between Russia and foreign countries and to create a basis for fruitful academic dialogue between young scholars from around the globe.

The spring internship will be held in English and will take place at the MGIMO University (Moscow, Russia) from March 20 to April 30.

The framework theme of the spring internship is “Rising Powers in World Politics”.

Deadline for applications: February 26, 11:59 pm Moscow time. All candidates will be informed about the results of the competition by email.

The result of the internship will be an original research project of 15-25,000 characters (incl. spaces), prepared by the applicant on the basis of the individual research proposal (in English).

Who can apply?

To participate in the competition, applicants should meet the following requirements at the time of the application deadline:

  1. foreign citizenship;
  2. age of 25-35;
  3. residence outside Russia;
  4. professional knowledge of English (at least C1 level);
  5. submission of an individual research proposal on the selected topic in accordance with the requirements of the application;
  6. absence of any employment/previous enrollment in academic programs/other relations with the MGIMO University;
  7. an academic/Ph.D. degree or postgraduate studies in progress.

Selection of the applicants for the internship will be based on the results of the competition. The competition criteria include:

  1. scientific significance, relevance, soundness and feasibility of the research proposal;
  2. academic publications;
  3. letters of recommendation;
  4. other research and expert activities of the applicant (participation in conferences, grants awarded, academic internships, expert publications, comments in the media, etc.);
  5. online interview.

Terms of participation:

The organisers will cover:

  • travel expenses to/from Moscow;
  • double accommodation in the MGIMO student residence;
  • visa support;
  • 45,000 rubles bursary for the period of the internship

The participants are responsible for covering the following costs:

  • food expenses during the internship;
  • PCR test (if needed);
  • medical insurance.
