On July 7, the InteRussia fellowship program for journalists from African countries opened at the headquarters of the International Information Agency and Radio Sputnik. Among the participants are young professionals from leading media outlets and organizations in Burundi, Zambia, Cameroon, Kenya, Mozambique, Rwanda, Senegal, Somalia, and Uganda.
Vasily Pushkov, Director of the International Cooperation Directorate, addressed this year’s fellows.
“We are pleased to welcome you to Moscow as new participants of the Sputnik Pro program. For us, this program is an opportunity to find new friends and partners. We are developing cooperation with foreign media, exchanging news and experiences, because today professional interaction is especially important.”
Deputy Executive Director Sergey Orlov welcomed the participants on behalf of the Gorchakov Fund.
“The main goal of this program is to show how we live and work in Russia, introduce you to our country, and explain why Africa is important to Russia today. We are honored to host young journalists from nine African countries, and we hope this month in Moscow will be special for you.”
Elena Litvichenko addressed the participants on behalf of Rossotrudnichestvo.
“I am pleased to welcome you to the “New Generation” program. It is being implemented jointly with our partners to introduce young foreign professionals to Russia's opportunities and to promote the development of bilateral cultural and humanitarian cooperation. I wish you success in your work within the program and a pleasant stay in Moscow.”
As part of the program, foreign journalists will gain insight into the Russian media landscape and exchange experiences with colleagues from different countries. Over the course of the month, participants will attend training sessions and workshops, and participate in events organized by the program's partners.
The InteRussia fellowship for journalists from African countries is implemented by Mezhdunarodniki Autonomous Non-Profit Organisation in partnership with the Gorchakov Fund and the International Information Agency and Radio Sputnik, as part of the SputnikPro program. The project is carried out under Rossotrudnichestvo’s flagship New Generation program, with grant support from the Presidential Grants Foundation.
