On July 5, the InteRussia fellowship for journalists from North Africa and the Middle East concluded in St. Petersburg. The program brought together media representatives from Algeria, Egypt, Jordan, Libya, Morocco, and Sudan.
During their four-week stay in Russia, the participants underwent intensive professional training at RT Arabic. Working alongside the channel's journalists and editors, the fellows learned about the production of international news content, editorial processes, and the principles of creating multimedia materials for international audiences. The program also allowed the participants to exchange professional experiences, master new digital journalism tools, and better understand the specifics of the Russian media landscape.
The educational program of the fellowship included meetings with leading media figures, discussions on current trends in international journalism, and practical exercises on working in the rapidly changing digital information environment. In particular, the participants met with Maria Zakharova, Official Representative of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Georgy Borisenko, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, to discuss current international issues, the role of media in the modern world, and the development of humanitarian ties between countries.
An important part of the program was the journalists' participation in the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF), where they had the opportunity to cover one of Russia's key international events. During the forum, participants attended plenary and thematic sessions, as well as expert discussions on current issues in the global economy, politics, and technological development. Working at the SPIEF venue allowed the fellows to gain practical experience covering major international events, interact with speakers and representatives of the expert community, and strengthen their professional skills in working with the global agenda.
The cultural program introduced the participants to the rich historical and cultural heritage of Moscow and St. Petersburg. The journalists took a tour of the Pashkov House and the State Hermitage Museum, and also attended a ballet performance at the State Kremlin Palace.
The fellowship provided an important platform for professional networking and establishing new international contacts in the media sphere. Participants noted the importance of direct dialogue with Russian colleagues and experts, as well as the opportunity to gain a more comprehensive understanding of modern Russia.
