From March 23 to April 18, 2026, the InteRussia fellowship for specialists in Oriental Studies was held at the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences. Among the participants were researchers from Egypt, India, Jordan, Kyrgyzstan, Libya, Pakistan, Syria, Turkey, and Uzbekistan.
The educational program focused on practical work with historical sources, museum collections, and archival materials. In Moscow, the participants visited the State Historical Museum, the Russian State Archive of Ancient Documents, and the Russian State Library. Special attention was paid to the State Museum of Oriental Art, where the fellows studied material culture—ceramics, textiles, and other artifacts—that allow for a deeper understanding and appreciation of the historical heritage of the East.
The program included a trip to St. Petersburg, where the participants visited the Institute of Oriental Manuscripts of the Russian Academy of Sciences, worked with rare manuscripts, and learned about the principles of their preservation and analysis. At the Russian Museum and the Hermitage, they observed how art reflects cultural dialogue and long-term exchange between civilizations.
As part of the cultural program, the participants went on a sightseeing tour of Moscow, visiting the capital's main sights.
The InteRussia Fellowship in Oriental Studies is implemented by Mezhdunarodniki Autonomous Non-Profit Organisation in cooperation with the Gorchakov Fund and the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences with grant support from the Presidential Grants Foundation.
