InteRussia Fellows Meet with the Rector of the Pushkin Institute

Russian Studies
On June 5, Rector of the Pushkin State Russian Language Institute Nikita Gusev met with international Russian studies scholars participating in the sixth InteRussia Research fellowship in Russian Language. This year, the Institute welcomed 24 young researchers from 16 countries who successfully passed a highly competitive selection process.

During the meeting, Nikita Gusev thanked the Gorchakov Fund for its support in organizing the fellowship and spoke with the participants about their academic interests, professional aspirations, and experiences in Russia.

«You have come a long way. The fact that you are in Russia is already a great achievement, considering the highly competitive selection process for the program — 20 applicants per place. Many events can be held remotely, but when all of you gather together in Moscow in person, it creates a completely different effect. You gain not only knowledge but also new friends. For us, you also become friends and, of course, can continue to count on our support in the future. It is gratifying when the program’s fellows stay in touch, and we are always delighted to meet them again at various events, including the Kostomarov Forum. We are always looking forward to welcoming you back and are open to your ideas and suggestions. If any of you would like to defend your dissertations at the Institute, we are open to that, and our faculty members will be happy to help and advise you», Nikita Gusev noted.

The participants shared their impressions of the fellowship and thanked the organizers for the opportunity to immerse themselves directly in the Russian-speaking environment. They also highlighted the value of lectures and master classes delivered by Pushkin Institute faculty, as well as the cultural and educational program prepared for the group.

As part of the fellowship, the scholars took part in the international teleconference «Creative Dialogues with Pushkin’s Genius» organized to mark Russian Language Day and the birthday of Alexander Pushkin. The event was organized by Rossotrudnichestvo and the Russian Language and Culture Center (Russian Center) of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, bringing together participants from different countries to celebrate the enduring significance of the Russian language and literary heritage.

The InteRussia Fellowship in Russian Studies is implemented by Mezhdunarodniki Autonomous Non-Profit Organisation in cooperation with the Gorchakov Fund and the Pushkin State Russian Language Institute with grant support from the Presidential Grants Foundation.
