InteRussia Fellowship for Foreign International Relations Specialists Concluded

On April 26, the Gorchakov Fund hosted the official closing of the spring program of research internships for foreign specialists InteRussia in the field of international relations. The fellowship took place at the MGIMO Institute for International Studies from March 18 to April 28.

The main result of the internship was the presentation of the results of research projects in English, on which foreign researchers worked over the past six weeks:

  • Lilly Ferriol Prat (Spain), Project Assistant at the BRICS Research Institute of the Durban University of Technology (South Africa): Sanction Efficiency: A Third Perspective
  • Taimur Fahad Khan (Pakistan), Research Fellow at the Islamabad Institute for Strategic Studies (ISSI): Strengthening Ties in Turbulent Times: Analyzing the Growth, Challenges and Opportunities in Pakistan-Russia Energy Cooperation

Participants highly appreciated the importance of the program for their own research and the development of scientific contacts.

"I have never encountered such a warm welcome as in Russia anywhere else in the world. I really fell in love with Moscow and I really want to come back here! The internship program was very well thought out, and during this time I managed to establish many professional contacts that are already proving useful for the development of cooperation," shared her impressions Lilly Ferriol Prat (Spain).

"InteRussia offers a unique combination of academic and cultural programs. As the first participant from Pakistan, it was an honor for me to represent my country in such a prestigious internship. I truly fell in love with the rich culture of Russia, its history and the warm, hospitable spirit of its people, which deepened my understanding of the country and strengthened my desire to develop in the field of international relations," said Taimur Fahad Khan (Pakistan).

During the internship, foreign researchers took an active part in scientific events of international and all-Russian scale. On April 18-19, the interns attended the international conference of young scientists "Ideologies at the Crossroads: Old Concepts and New Paradigms" at the Primakov Institute of World Economy and International Relations of the Russian Academy of Sciences (IMEMO) and made presentations. The young researchers also participated in events organized by the Department of Foreign Regional Studies of the Faculty of World Economy and World Politics of the Higher School of Economics (HSE) and the Faculty of International Relations of St. Petersburg State University.

During the internship, the participants also visited the Valdai Club, Russia Today, the Russia Today International News Agency, and Skolkovo, met with the head of Rossotrudnichestvo E.A. Primakov and the director of the Primakov Institute of World Economy and International Relations of the Russian Academy of Sciences (IMEMO) Feodor Voitolovsky. Participants from Oman and Malaysia visited the Kabardino-Balkarian State University named after H.M. Berbekov to expand the international ties of their educational institutions. The cultural part of the program included excursions around Moscow and to the Tretyakov Gallery, as well as attending the ballet "The Nutcracker" at the State Kremlin Palace.

Applications for the autumn wave of the InteRussia program will begin in mid-May.

The InteRussia program on international relations is implemented by the ANO "Mezhdunarodniki" in cooperation with the Gorchakov Fund and IMI MGIMO, with grant support from the Presidential Grants Fund.
