The Gorchakov Fund together with MGIMO University and Rossotrudnichestvo are once again launching the application process for a research fellowship programme.
InteRussia is an opportunity for foreign specialists in history and international relations theory, political science and foreign area studies to get to know Russian research and expert agenda, visit government agencies, and participate in expert discussions held at universities, think tanks, and community-based organisations. The key advantage of the programme is the chance to work under the guidance of leading scholars from MGIMO University.
The mission of InteRussia is to build a non-hierarchical global community of young scholars and facilitate constructive academic dialogue on new approaches to international relations in the emerging multipolar world.
Date of the fellowship: 23 October – 3 December, 2023.
Location: Moscow, Russia.
Working language: English.
The topic of the programme is “New global challenges and threats.”
The deadline for applications is 31 August, 23:59 Moscow Time. All the candidates will be informed about the results of the selection via email.
The outcome of the fellowship will be a draft of an original research project of 15,000-25,000 characters incl. spaces prepared by a participant on the basis of an individual research proposal in English.

- foreign nationality;
- age 25-39;
- place of residence outside of Russia.
- professional command of English (CERF C1 and higher)
- submission of a research proposal on the selected topic in accordance with the requirements specified in the application form;
- absence of any employment and other relations with MGIMO (including part-time external jobs). An applicant also must not be studying at the postgraduate programme or defending a thesis at MGIMO;
- PhD degree or at least 3 years of working experience in academic institutions/think tanks or postgraduate studies in progress.
Applicants for the fellowship will be selected on a competitive basis. The criteria of the competitive selection include:
- the academic level, relevance, maturity and feasibility of the applicant’s research proposal;
- academic publications;
- letters of recommendation;
- other research and expert activities of the applicant (participation in conferences, grants, scientific fellowships, expert publications, comments for mass media, etc.)
- results of the online interview.
How to participate?

- travel from a city of residence to Moscow and back;
- double room in a hotel;
- visa-related support;
- scholarship for the duration of the fellowship in the amount of 45,000 rubles.
The participants pay for:
- meals during their fellowship.
